If you haven’t discovered The Secret Thai Garden yet you are seriously
missing out. It's priced well (about $20 per meal) and the food is pretty
amazing but that’s not the thing that makes this place so special. Its located
in south Auckland so after you have made sure you have locked your car five
times you see this little walkway to The Thai Garden. You are probably
thinking, well this looks like the sort of place they cook cats out the back
of. Don't turn back yet. Once you get through the entrance, you are greeted by
elephant tusks lining a resort styled entranceway. The entire place is filled
with Buda statues and other oriental decorations. It is a pretty amazing
experience. You feel like you are being taken to Narnia. I would suggest going
there while we have a little sunshine left. Don't miss out on this treat.

Why stop your night there though. If you want to continue with the oriental
theme, visit Shanghai Lil's. It has to be one of the most interesting eccentric
bars I have ever been to. It is jammed packed with Chinese antiques and themed
around a 1930's brothel (don't worry, its not too raunchy). The owner brings
the place to life and there is usually live music. Defiantly one not to miss if
you’re up for a drink and plenty to look at. have a look around the place at:
